Chime Offers Free Stock Trading Service

Chime has introduced Chime Invest, a new feature that allows members to trade stocks and ETFs commission-free, as well as access professionally managed portfolios, directly within its app. This expansion integrates investing into the same platform where users already earn, spend, and save, further consolidating everyday financial activity.
Around 40% of Americans say they do not own any stocks, according to a Gallup Economy and Personal Finance survey conducted in April 2026. As a result, many are missing what Chime describes as one of the most reliable long-term wealth-building tools.
A recent Chime survey identified key barriers to investing, including limited time to learn about investments, competing financial priorities, and the cost of professional advice. Chime Invest lowers the entry point, allowing members to begin with as little as $1. They are making it easier for people to start investing.
For those lacking time or confidence, managed portfolios offer a fully automated approach. “The hardest part of investing is often getting started and sticking with it,” says Chris Britt, CEO and Co-Founder of Chime.

The rollout builds on strong user engagement, with members opening the app an average of five times daily and completing more than 50 transactions each month. Instead of introducing a separate interface, Chime Invest is embedded within the existing app, offering two distinct pathways.
For those preferring a hands-off approach, Managed Portfolios deliver diversified, expert-designed investments aligned with individual goals and risk tolerance. These portfolios are managed by Atomic Invest, an SEC-registered investment adviser and come with no minimum balance requirements.
Fees are structured at zero for Chime Prime members, 0.10% annually for Chime Plus members and 0.25% for all other users. For members who want direct control, self-directed Investing provides access to a wide range of US stocks and ETFs on a commission-free basis.
Investments are protected by SIPC coverage of up to $500,000. Chime Invest will roll out to members over the coming weeks, enhancing the platform’s existing financial tools.

The launch precedes Chime’s anticipated second-quarter financial results, expected in August. In its first-quarter update, the company reported a “strong start,” with revenue reaching $647m, a 25% year-on-year increase, supported in part by seasonal tax refund activity.
Chime expects second-quarter revenue to fall between $633m and $634m. The company also reported 10.2 million active members. Third-party research conducted in May 2026 found that more Americans opened bank accounts with Chime than with any other financial institution.
Full-year revenue is projected to reach between $2.66bn and $2.69bn, representing annual growth of 22–23%.
As financial needs change, companies like Chime are expanding their services. Chime Invest is set to provide its members with a new way to manage their finances and invest in their future.
