Nursery Manager Takes Ownership After 23 Years of Service

The manager of Little Stars Nursery at Mamhilad Park Estate has become its new owner after the previous owners stepped down after 23 years. Becky Gregory, who has worked at the nursery for eight years, has taken over the award-winning facility.
Located in Mamhilad, the nursery employs a team of 25 full- and part-time professionals caring for 65 children aged between six weeks and five years daily. Over 100 local families rely on its services, and all staff will remain under Becky’s leadership.
A Smooth Transition
Becky, a Sebastopol resident, holds a degree in Childhood Studies from Aberystwyth University. She previously served as room leader for both babies and toddlers before becoming manager. She had earlier expressed interest in career advancement to the former owners, Emma Matthews and Marie Ellis-Jones, asking them to consider her if they opened another nursery.
Becky’s deep familiarity with the nursery’s operations and her strong relationships with staff and families have ensured a seamless transition. Little Stars boasts a history of outstanding inspections and multiple awards, which she aims to maintain.

Support from the Community
Becky has received widespread support from staff, parents, and the Mamhilad Park Estate team.
Peter Downes of Johnsey Estates, which owns and manages Mamhilad Park Estate, welcomed the change. “The nursery is an important part of life here, for those who work on the estate and in the local area,” he said.
Emma and Marie expressed confidence in Becky’s leadership. “After 23 years of owning and running Little Stars Nursery, we’ve decided it’s time to pass the baton to Becky,” they said in a Facebook post.
While Becky has no immediate plans for changes, she intends to involve staff, parents, and children in future decisions. One idea she’s exploring is a school holiday club, which has garnered interest from parents.
